The GRMC Difference

Denyse Gipple of New Sharon gave birth to her daughter, Lucy, at GRMC. Denyse talks about the exceptional care she received at GRMC during this joyous time.

Optimal Healing

We have a goal to create an environment of health and harmony at GRMC. Healing is more than high tech equipment, medications, and testing. The human side of healing involves the positive energy of humans caring for others.

Integrated therapies thrive on the natural flow of energies from the body. GRMC is a leader in the nation in offering integrated therapies to patients. According to the Health Forum research, 37 percent of hospitals around the United States make complementary and alternative treatments available to patients.

In June 2008, USA Today, featured Anne Stephens, an acupuncturist at Postels Community Health Park, GRMC’s integrated therapies clinic.

GRMC massage therapists come to our surgical department daily to offer relaxing massages to patients before surgery. Nearly 90 percent of GRMC patients take advantage of the offer. Therapists also provide massages to obstetrical patients before and after delivery. Expansion of massages to medical patients will continue in 2009.

Furthering our optimal healing therapy options, specially trained dogs visit patients in the hospital to meet therapy goals to encourage usage of hands and arms, improve the mental state of a patient, or distract a patient from pain or depression. The weekly visits bring smiles to patients and staff.
