About the Health Park
Through the services offered at Postels Community Health Park, patients find an approach that recognizes the importance of physical, emotional, and spiritual dimensions in health and healing.
Since 1999, Grinnell Regional Medical Center has worked to bring alternative medicine into the mainstream, finding unique opportunities for bringing traditional medicine and complementary medicine closer together at Postels and in the hospital setting.
Wellness encompasses many aspects. It is not a place that we get to, but a continual journey or way of life that we choose. GRMC is committed to and continues to expand services to provide our community with the wellness programs that help you continue on your wellness path.
The staff at Postels Community Health Park are here to help patients live more fully, cope better with their medical conditions, control symptoms, and participate more fully in their medical care.

Acupuncture
Acupuncture is one of the oldest, most commonly used medical treatments in the world. It is believed to have originated in China more than 2,000 years ago. Research shows that acupuncture is beneficial in treating a variety of health conditions.
In acupuncture, fine disposable needles are inserted at critical points in the body that connect nerves, muscles, and organs. The most common use of acupuncture in the United States is pain control. It has found usefulness in both acute and chronic pain conditions. Acupuncture may be appropriate for many other conditions, including digestive problems, emotional problems, gynecological problems, respiratory problems, and others.
Treatment sessions with GRMC’s medical acupuncturist normally last about an hour. The regular per session cost is around $70.
To schedule an acupuncture appointment, please call us. Some insurance plans will cover the use of acupuncture for health benefits. Please call Postels for details, 641-236-2953.
