We need caring people to help us with our commitment to build a successful auxiliary. You help Grinnell Regional Medical Center provide the best in healthcare services to our area by supporting the auxiliary.
Auxiliary volunteers strive to comfort GRMC patients as well as to support the staff and care for our friends and families. We do this by sharing our financial resources, volunteering our time and talents, and providing education about health issues.
We invite you to be a part of the GRMC auxiliary. Your participation will be greatly appreciated and will allow the auxiliary to carry on its rich tradition of service and financial commitment to our medical center.
Our Mission & Goals
The mission of this charitable volunteer organization is to promote and assist GRMC in providing healthcare services to the area, in accordance with the objectives set forth by the governing body of the medical center.
Our goals for this year are:
- To coordinate with GRMC on a community health education event.
- To be a positive influence on the patient's experience at GRMC through patient services and supporting GRMC volunteer services.
- To give $10,000 in scholarships
- To financially support GRMC through equipment gifts of $30,000 for a chemotherapy shield, PCA pumps, and a defibrillator.
We Make A Difference for GRMC patients
...for GRMC patients through fund-raising projects
In 2007, the auxiliary raised more than $30,000 through various events and programs to support renovation of the Corner Café at GRMC. The auxiliary also helped purchase a new pager system for the surgery waiting area, plus nearly $300 worth of car seats for needy families, and $300 worth of books for newborns at the Kintzinger Women's Health Center.
...by awarding scholarships to people entering or continuing education in the healthcare field.
The nation faces a continued demand for talendted, caring nurses and other healthcare professionals. To help meet this need, the auxiliary gives $10,000 scholarships to individuals pursuing an education or further education in the healthcare field. To qualify, applicants must be permanent residents of the GRMC service area. Click here to download the 2010 application.

About the Auxiliary
GRMC’s auxiliary has the distinction of being one of the oldest continuing hospital volunteer organizations in Iowa. The current auxiliary is historically linked to the very earliest of healthcare services in Grinnell.
It was on February 12, 1968, that the auxiliaries of Community Hospital and St. Francis merged to form the Grinnell General Hospital Auxiliary. Community Hospital Auxiliary dated back to 1924 and St. Francis Auxiliary was founded in 1933.
Today, GRMC places great value on its auxiliary, not only in terms of services and financial support, but as goodwill ambassadors in the community.
